Michael Gabriel - Principal


Michael is a secondary trained teacher of health and physical education, science and health with teaching experience across all year levels. He has a passion for the outdoors and is an enthusiastic educator. He has a strong interest in marine environments and outdoor recreation activities. Michael has been leading the Centre since 2019.

Kate Larson - Business Manager


Kate has a very bubbly personality and a unique passion and care for the environment. She chooses a sustainable plant based diet as she also has a keen interest in animal welfare and health and wellbeing. She is a valuable member of our team and has a thorough understanding of budgeting to ensure all students that visit the centre have the best possible facilities and resources to access.

Cathy Singh - Teacher

Cathy is a vibrant educator who loves teaching in the outdoors. Her expertise as a primary trained teacher, Cathy has taught all over the state from Far North Qld to the southern end of the Gold Coast. Cathy utilises a range of classroom management tricks and tips and engages her audience through facilitating learning beyond the classroom. 

Ebonny Gabriel - Teacher


Ebonny is a passionate teacher with a love of science in particular biology. Ebonny has recently achieved her nationally recognised Highly Accomplished Teacher (HAT) certification ​and has presented at the national HALT summit.  Ebonny thoroughly enjoys teaching in the outdoors and working alongside children of all ages. 

Jayden Woods - Teacher


Jayden is an early career teacher that has joined our BIEEC crew in the last couple of years. Moving from the Gold Coast with his lovely partner, he has previously worked at another Education QLD outdoor and environmental education centre at Tallebudgera. Jayden displays plenty of experience and enthusiasm to his job. He loves boating, camping, 4WDing, going for a surf and adores wetting a line when ever he can. Jayden brings a wealth of creative ideas and fresh eyes to our centre and is a welcome and valued asset to the team.

Cassi  - Teacher Aide & Relief Teacher


Cassi is always smiling and laughing and brings a breath of fresh air to the workplace. She is a very organised worker and loves working with children of all different ages. Cassi also assists the Centre at various times throughout the year as our relief Teacher. She has predominantly worked in Primary Schools and early childhood centres with students aged 4-8. Cassii has a kind and caring nature with a passion for the outdoors and marine environments.  Her interests include camping, boating, fishing and reading. 

Trudy Heny - Cleaner


Trudy has brought an abundance of skills to BIEEC, all the way from South Africa. She is an extremely good cook and a fantastic story teller. She also excels in her cleaning role ensuring that our centre is spotless for the arrival of our visiting schools. Trudy has an endearing, heart felt laugh, not to be mistaken for any other and is willing to give anything a go.

Tony Vloedmans - Unit Support Officer


In a previous life , Tony was a local cabinetmaker but felt the need to get outdoors and get his hands in the dirt. Tony's role involves a range of important jobs from grounds care, supporting students in a safety boat during canoeing and rafting, small project work and general maintenence of the centre. Tony keeps us all entertained with his great sense of humour and terrible dad jokes.
