The Boyne Island Environmental Education Centre boasts a beautiful reef aquarium with a focus on clownfish. Nemo Nurturers brings the reef to the Centre and provides a great opportunity for students to engage in.

The program is divided into two hands-on, student centred sessions.

Session 1 – The students are called upon to assist the Principal with his presentation on the lifecycle of Clownfish. Students observe the various reef tanks and spy Nemo, Dory and other friends from the reef.  Students also engage in a virtual tour of the reef using VR goggles and screen-print a reusable calico bag to send a sustainable message.

Session 2 - Students are provided with hands on opportunities to discover the secret life of plankton and help the lost plankton find out what species he is.  Using a variety of microscopes and other tools, students identify and interact with the most important organism in the world.  Students are then involved in a STEM challenge to construct models of zooplankton and phytoplankton and how they sit in the water column.
